Black White and READ: A literacy initiative

Purpose

To increase and support literacy awareness through activities associated with a Community Read.

The Dearborn Community Read will feature The Great Gatsby for high school students and adults; Black Beauty for children and families.

Lawrenceburg Public Library District and Aurora Public Library District will have multiple copies of The Great Gatsby and Black Beauty available to community groups and to individuals. Schools will be offered classroom copies.

Organizing Partners will independently host a variety of free activities and programs featuring classic literature, films, music and art. Lawrenceburg Public Library District will coordinate existing programs (Toon In, Brown Bag) with the "Black White & READ initiative" as well as offer special programming.
